APPERANCES: Taraji P. Henson

Taraji P. Henson spoke with belief on Sunday night after it was announced that “Hidden Figures” won the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture.

The film, which has received much acclaim including an Oscar nomination for Best Picture, tells the little-known stories of three black women ― Katherine Johnson, Dorothy Vaughan and Mary Jackson ― who played pivotal roles in NASA’s successful attempt to put astronaut John Glenn into orbit.

Henson, who portrayed Johnson, accepted the award alongside her cast mates and brought a stirring speech about the movie’s purpose.

“This film is about unity,” Henson said. “The shoulders of the women that we stand on are three American heroes: Katherine Johnson, Dorothy Vaughan and Mary Jackson. Without them, we would not know how to reach the stars.”

“These women did not complain about the problems, the circumstances, the issues,” she continued. “They focused on solutions. Therefore, these brave women helped put men into space.”

What I love about Taraji is that she understands that industry is not always going to love you, the entertainment world is a fickle industry and one needs to understand while they are still relevant they need to work they butts off. I love her cause she understands that.

Urban pop singer and actress known as one third of the girl group Love Dollhouse. The group first gained fame following the release of their debut single “Can I.” She is also familiar for starring as April Geddes in the AMC series Low Winter Sun.

I love her Instagram page because I think she has amazing style and her skin tone is gorgeous she makes you want to lie in the sun for hours, just to get that skin tone.

At twelve years old, she met Love Dollhouse band mate Jasmine in middle school. The pair eventually went on to audition for America’s Got Talent together.

Though stars gathered for the SAG Awards in Los Angeles dressed to the nines to celebrate the best actors in film and television, the world beyond the red carpet and the silver screen was still experiencing a turbulent time due to Donald Trump and his leadership.

Washington communicated where her thoughts and heart were that evening with a slight detail attached to her white beaded Roberto Cavalli Couture gown. On her left shoulder, she wore a safety pin to symbolize solidarity.
